“911 CALLS MAKES SMOOTH TRANSITION TO SHERIFF’S DISPATCH”
Canton, OH – Sheriff George T. Maier announces that on September 18, 2013 the Stark County Sheriff entered into a contract with the Stark County Board of Commissioners to assume operation of the Stark County 911 Dispatch Center.  Since that time, upgrades to dispatch equipment and training of personnel has occurred.

At midnight, Wednesday, January 16, 2014, the 911 calls coming into the County 911 Center were transferred to the Stark County Sheriff’s Dispatch.  The Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center will now answer all incoming 911 calls that were previously answered by the County Call Center which will result in fewer calls being transferred from a 911 call taker to a dispatcher.  With this consolidation of resources the Sheriff and Commissioners expect to save the Stark County Taxpayers approximately $300,000.00.

It should be noted that this is the second such consolidation as the Sheriff did take over Plain Township Fire Dispatch in August of 2013 in an effort to save Plain Township residents tax dollars.
