STARK COUNTY SHERIFF TO HAVE INCREASED TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT

Sheriff George T. Maier announces that the Stark County Sheriff’s Office will begin an enforcement period focusing on Speed, Impaired Driving and Restraint use.  This enforcement period will be from SEPTEMBER 5, 2013 through SEPTEMBER 29, 2013.  This will be an additional 120 hours of enforcement throughout Stark County.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office will have increased enforcement and patrol throughout Stark County during this period and strictly enforce the laws concerning speed, impaired driving and restraint use.

Every day in the U.S. almost 30 people die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver.  This amounts to one death every 48 minutes.  During 2012, in Stark County over 48% of the fatal crashes were alcohol and/or drug related.   Seat belts are the most effective lifesaving feature in a vehicle and can be your best protection against serious injury or death in a crash caused by an impaired driver.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office received a grant through the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio Traffic Safety Office, which provides for the additional funding and allows the Stark County Sheriff’s Office to participate in these programs.
