STARK COUNTY SHERIFF’S METRO NARCOTICS UNIT SEIZES
332 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA

Sheriff George T. Maier reports that during the late evening hours of Tuesday, June 25 and the early morning hours of June 26, 2013, the Stark County Sheriff’s Metropolitan Narcotics Unit, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration, executed three search warrants, one warrant was executed in Summit County with two warrants executed in Stark County.

Officer’s seized an estimated 332 pounds of packaged marijuana, approximately $330,000.00 in cash, four vehicles, one fully automatic handgun with a thirty round magazine, and one bullet proof vest.  The marijuana seized has an estimated street value of nearly a half a million dollars, for a total of approximately $1,000,000.00 in seized contraband property.

The search warrants were a result of an ongoing and continuing joint investigation of the Stark County Sheriff’s Metropolitan Narcotics Unit in cooperation with the DEA.  The following agencies also played a major role in this ongoing investigation:  FBI, BCI, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Summit County Drug Unit, Canton Police Department, Alliance Police Department, Lake County Drug Task Force, Stark County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office.

Upon the completion of this ongoing investigation numerous federal indictments are expected to be filed.
