The Stark Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a burn to destroy drugs and firearms seized during drug investigations from 2004 – 2007. The items have been loaded in a very large transportable container to take to the furnace for destruction. If there is any media outlet that would like to photograph the items before they are destroyed, you may contact Kerry Hester at 330-430-3697 to schedule an appointment for the photo and story.

The items identified for destruction are cocaine, marijuana, grow equipment and firearms taken from drug investigations and properly ordered destroyed by the Common Pleas Court.

The evidence and contraband are the results of hundreds of drug cases investigated by the Metro Narcotics Unit of the Stark County Sheriff’s Office. Local law enforcement that has an agent assigned to the Unit also participated in the investigations. Metro is a Countywide Unit having jurisdiction throughout Stark County that works very close with all Law Enforcement Agencies in Stark County and also the Federal and State agencies of FBI, DEA, BCI & I and Postal Inspectors.

The items being destroyed to include eleven (11) kilos of cocaine and hundreds of marijuana plants and product, are the evidence seized over four (4) years by the Metro Unit.  It’s a combined effort and the cooperation of all Law Enforcement in Stark County to make such a confiscation of this staggering amount. Any grow equipment confiscated is also prepared for destruction and will be crushed and then properly disposed of according to law.

There have been several vehicles seized throughout these investigations and the vehicles have either been made property of a participating Law Enforcement agency or sold and the proceeds divided among the law enforcement agencies involved. There was a four wheeler confiscated and after Court action it was made property of the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and donated to the Stark County Hazmat Team for their use.

ANY MEDIA OUTLET WISHING TO PHOTOGRAPH AND DO A STORY MAY CONTACT KERRY HESTER AT 330-430-3697.
